Kuvaus: The battalion parades outside a virtually undamaged château. The men wear shrapnel helmets but look quite smart if very tired. They are briefly inspected by their commanding officer (face not seen). They set out on a route march in full kit with transport limbers and wagons, the officers riding horses. The officers posed outside the château, the commanding officer may be Major H C Potter. The battalion boot repairers at work. The armourer's shop, showing maintenance work being done on a Lewis machine gun. Two field cookers in a yard comprise the "cookhouse". Several of the men emerge from the hayloft and come down an outer stairway. A "merry group of Liverpool lads" with the regimental goat. A final close-up of a soldier wearing his cap to display the regimental badge.
Probably 1st Battalion, King's (Liverpool Regiment), in the rear areas of the Western Front, autumn 1917.
